This guide provides comprehensive instructions on the installation and use of the reference management software EndNote.

Exporting references from databases accessed through the library's MySIT page

Most databases export references into EndNote.  While the process is similar for most databases, there are some small variations between individual databases. 

Imported references initially appear in the Imported References group and will automatically be added to the All References group.  To copy the reference into another group, click and drag the reference.

The quality of imported references varies between databases.  Always check EndNote references meet SIT APA 7th edition standards. 

This section has instructions on how to export a reference from ProQuest Central, Science Direct and any EBSCO database (including CINAHL Ultimate and Business Source Complete).

Exporting a reference from ProQuest Central

1. Open the article's record and click the All Options icon.

2. Click on the RIS option.

3. Click continue.

4. The downloaded file appears in the top right-hand corner, click once to open the reference in EndNote.

 

Exporting a reference from CINAHL Ultimate, Business Source Complete or any other EBSCO database

1. Open the article's record and select Export from the right-hand side Tools panel.

2. Select Direct Export in RIS Format and click Save.

3. The downloaded file appears in the top right-hand corner, click once to open the reference in EndNote.

Exporting a reference from Science Direct

1. Tick the box beside the record you want to export into EndNote and click Export.

2. Click Export citation to RIS.

3. The downloaded file appears in the top right-hand corner, click once to open the reference in EndNote.
