Adding and editing references
To add references to EndNote a library must be opened first. There is no limit to the number of references you can add to a single EndNote library.
The method used to add a reference will depend on what source type is to be referenced e.g. book, website, journal article, ebook. The two methods are:
- Manually adding a reference: This is necessary when you cannot export the reference e.g. books, websites, print magazines.
- Exporting a reference from a database, Google Scholar or Ebook Central: This allows you to automatically export references into EndNote. While the process is similar for most databases, there are some small variations between individual databases. The quality of imported references can vary. You will need to check the references in EndNote meet SIT APA 7th edition standards.
Also covered in this section:
- Editing a reference: Any reference may require editing to conform to SIT APA 7th edition standards, whether manually created or exported from a database, Ebook Central or Google Scholar.
- Attaching a PDF or other document: Attach PDFs or other documents to a reference and annotate the pdf.
- Adding research notes: EndNote provides a space for you to add your own personal notes to a reference.
