EndNote Guide / APA Referencing Guide

This guide provides comprehensive instructions on the installation and use of the reference management software EndNote.

Which fields are required to create report and legislation references in EndNote?

Important instructions:

  • If no individual author is listed, the specific agency/organisation responsible for the report is listed as the author.  The corporate author’s name must be followed by a comma (e.g. Families Commission,).  Failure to add a comma will result in the entry being abbreviated (e.g. Commission, F.).
  • Capitalise the first word in the title and for a two-part title also capitalise the first word of the second part.  Proper nouns in the title require the first letter to be capitalised e.g. Elder abuse and neglect: Exploration of risk and protective factors: A report for the Families Commission.
  • Omit the publisher when the author and the publisher are the same.
  • The title of a legislation or act must retain capital letters e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
