Which fields are required to create social media references in EndNote?
Important instructions:
- Use the name associated with the account as the username e.g. Ardern, J.
- If a @username is provided include this in the Handle field e.g. @jacindaardern.
- Provide the specific date of the post e.g. 2018, October 15. Type the year in the Year field and the month and date in the Post Date field.
- Provide the first 20 words of the post as the title. Count a URL or other link, a hashtag, or an emoji as one word each, and include them in the reference if they fall within the first 20 words.
- Do not alter the spelling and capitalisation in the post text. Retain hashtags and links. Replicate emojis. If you are not able to create the emoji, provide the emoji's name in square brackets e.g. [paw prints emoji].
- If a post includes images, videos, thumbnail links to outside sources or content from another post, indicate this in the Original Post field e.g. Video, Image attached, Thumbnail with link attached, Infographic.
- If there is no individual author listed use the organisation's name in the Username field. The corporate author’s name must be followed by a comma (e.g. New Zealand Police,). Failure to add a comma will result in the entry being abbreviated (e.g. Police, N. Z.).
