EndNote 20/21 Guide / APA Referencing Guide

This guide provides comprehensive instructions on the installation and use of the reference management software EndNote 20.

Which fields are required to create book, ebook or book chapter references in EndNote?

Important instructions:

  • Write the individual’s surname first, enter a comma, then the author’s first name or initials (e.g. Lewis, Philip or Jones, A. J.).
  • Enter each author or editor on a new line by pressing enter.
  • Capitalise the first word in the title and for a two-part title also capitalise the first word of the second part.  Proper nouns in the title require the first letter to be capitalised (e.g. Community health and wellness: Principles of primary health care).
  • Enter the edition numerically not the number word (e.g. 3rd not third).
