Locating publication details and page numbers of a ClinicalKey ebook:
1. Open the ebook in the Bookshelf.
2. Click on the title page in the table of contents. From the title page identify the title and subtitle (if there is a subtitle), the authors or editors and edition (if an edition other than first).
3. Click on the copyright page in the table of contents. From the copyright page identify the publisher and year of publication.
4. Once these reference details have been collected, create the reference either manually or using a reference management software like EndNote.
5. Locate the information you want to quote or paraphrase and idenify the page number for your in-text citation.
6. Important Note: Do not use a URL from ClinicalKey Student Nursing when referencing ebooks because this is not generally accessible to all readers (a student login has been required). There are no DOI for ClinicalKey ebooks so reference the ebook as if it is a print book.
When referencing ClinicalKey Resources:
In-text citations have two formats, parenthetical or narrative.
1. Parenthetical citation: Both the author and the date (and if applicable page number) appear in parentheses at the end of the sentence.
Ethics in the research context refers “to the standards of behaviour that guide your conduct in relation to the rights of the those who become subject of your work or are affected by it” (Saunders et al., 2019, pp. 252-253).
OR
2. Narrative citation: The author appears in the text and the date appears (and if applicable page number) in parentheses immediately after the author's name.
Arcus (2008, p. 19) found state examination is “for the foreseeable future at least, firmly embedded in nursing education and culture in New Zealand”.
For detailed information on in-text citations and referencing please refer to the official SIT APA 7th edition Referencing Guide.

Figure or Table |
At times you will be required to insert tables or figures (pictures, photographs, charts, graphs, drawings, maps) into your assignment. These must be clearly and properly labelled.
Figure and table notes contain information to clarify the contents of the figure/table for readers and the reference source information. The source should also appear in your reference list.
When writing the note for a figure or table from a ClinicalKey ebook follow this structure: Note. Descriptive caption. From Title of Book (edition., page number), by A. A. Author and B.B. Author, Year, Publisher. For detailed instructions on tables and figures go to the SIT APA 7th edition Referencing Guide pages 11 - 16. |
