  • Animal Welfare: MPI leads and facilitates the management of animal welfare policy and practice in New Zealand.  Access information, documents, statistics and much more. 
  • Animal Welfare Codes: Learn about the codes of welfare for a variety of animals, their relationship to the Animal Welfare Act 1999, and how they help improve animal management and care.
  • Welfare Pulse: Welfare Pulse is MPI’s animal welfare publication – for those with a special interest in animal welfare developments in New Zealand and overseas.

Collated and useful statistical data for Veterinary Nursing and Animal Care students:

  • Agriculture: Statistical data on animal farming.
  • Biodiversity: Statistical data on our indigenous (native) plant and animal species of the land, freshwater, and marine environments. It also considers exotic plant and animal species (pest plants and animals as well as farmed plants and animals).

  • AAHA Guidelines: The guidelines offer resources for client communication, technician utilisation, and easy-to-use algorithms and calculators to assist in clinical diagnosis and treatment of common and less common conditions in dogs and cats.

These World Organisation for Animal Health webpages are particularly useful for Veterinary Nursing and Animal Care students:

  • Animal Diseases: Access resources and information on both terrestrial and aquatic animal diseases.
  • Publications: Publications produced by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) cover the full spectrum of animal health issues throughout the world and include periodicals, OIE international standards, world conference proceedings and publications dealing with important topical issues.
  • OIE Documentary Resources: This portal shares scientific and technical knowledge in the field of global animal health and contains the archives of the OIE’s work as well as documents related to its activity.

This World Small Animal Veterinary Association webpage is particularly useful for Veterinary Nursing and Animal Care students:

  • Global Guidelines: WSAVA Global Guidelines provide minimum standards of care for conditions or issues of global relevance and recommend best practice in each area. They aim to provide clinicians with clear diagnostic and treatment guidelines, wherever in the world they are in practice.
