Environment Southland

Ministry for the Environment
The Ministry for the Environment is the government’s primary advisor on environmental matters and has a stewardship role. Access information, reports, research and publications of a variety of environmental topics.
Stats NZ Tatauranga Aotearoa
Stats NZ is New Zealand's official data agency. They collect information from people and organisations through censuses and surveys. This information is used to publish insights and data about New Zealand and support others to use the data.

Collated and useful statistical data for Environmental Management students:

Agriculture: Statistical data on animal farming, crop growing, forestry and farm practices.
Air: Statistical data on the state of our air, the pressures that contribute to this state, and the impact on us.
Atmosphere and Climate: Statistical data on the state of our atmosphere and climate, the pressures that contribute to this state, and the impact on us.
Biodiversity: Statistical data on our indigenous (native) plant and animal species of the land, freshwater, and marine environments. It also considers exotic plant and animal species (pest plants and animals as well as farmed plants and animals).
Energy: Energy statistics give you information about the energy used in New Zealand. Energy types include electricity, petrol, diesel, coal, natural gas, and renewable energy.

Environmental Systems Research

Environment and the law

Environment Court of New Zealand
This court largely deals with appeals about the contents of regional and district plans and appeals arising out of applications for resource consents. The consents applied for may be for land use, a subdivision, coastal permit, water permit, discharge permit or a combination of these.
